Reptile Emergency preparedness
I'm a new snake owner and thoroughly understand how important a stable temperature is for a snake, out of the blue I just started wondering what happens during emergency situations where there is no electricity and warmth is hard to find? Hurricanes, floods, wild weather? This past october we had a bad snowstorm and lost power for about a week and it was FREEZING, I hope I never have to make my baby go through that, I mean I even cuddled with my kitties.
I'd like to know what the veteran snake keepers have done if they've gone through this,or what are some things you would consider doing?
SORRY IF THIS THREAD HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE! I thought it would be a good discussion for the "just in case something bad happens"
Re: Reptile Emergency preparedness
I have a 5500 watt generator for emergency use...it's enough to keep my snake room warm enough that I'm comfortable with the temps over a short period of time.
I lost power for 4 days with that storm...was able to run my refrigerator, a few lamps, one TV, my snakes racks and a space heater the whole time, with power to spare. My snake room never went below 70.
