How many of you actually go out on reptile searches (i prefer not to call it a hunt, as I would never kill any reptile). Every summer I spend most of my free time at a place in my town called 'the falls'. In fact, that is where I caught Kobe (the eastern kingsnake I had.) Everytime I go out there, I find AT LEAST 4 eastern watersnakes, which are beautiful creatures. They look just like a kingsnake, and are so fun to watch. Occasionally I'll stumble across a few blue tailed skinks, and some swifts. But my absolute favorite thing to come across are the venomous snakes. Around here (Virginia) there aren't that many species of venomous, in fact the only ones I've come across would be the Cottonmouth and the eastern Copperhead. Both are gorgeous, and extremely fun to observe. Occasionally I get brave and do the Jeff Corwin thing, but eh... not very often... What about you guys??

I went field herping for the first time ALLLLL last summer. It was so much fun. You go road cruising and find TONS and TONS of stuff. It was alot of fun. Since Arizona, as we all know, is herp heaven. :) We'd find things like green rats, rosy boa's, pyro's, coral snakes, and MOSTLY rattlesnakes; even Gila Monsters (But you better be sure NOT to touch them, or Game and Fish will come hunt you down).

It's all in good, clean fun, though. And I LOVE to do it. :D

When I lived in Florida it was almost an every day thing. Usually just hunting for rattler's for thier meat, but if any other herp crossed my path, I was sure to at least pick em up to say hello before releasing it unless it was an Indigo. Now that I am here in Illinois I dont search much anymore, but use to go rounding up Hognose, Black and Blue racer's, corn , rat , ring neck , glass , garter, and water snakes. I know Im forgetting some but that is all my brain can remember right now. I allway's enjoyed it but the health wont allow it anymore.

Next year I'm hoping to find a few smooth greens. They are such fun little snakes.
