    Feeding a feeder.
Well my girl didn't eat last week so I have been taking care of our feeder rat for the week and I have run out of rat food that the reptile store gave me just in case.

I gave it the last couple blocks of food this morning but it is hungry I can tell it bit my finger twice today because there was no food last night. It is happily eating now but I want to make sure it is full before feeding tonight. It has been well fed all week but I needed to stretch out what I had last night so I had some for this morning for it.

What can I feed the rat a couple hours before it becomes dinner? I am not sure if there is anything to avoid. I was going to through in some cereal like Cheerios.

Sorry the reptile shop is closed and I don't own a bird. I was thinking of people food. I just want to make sure that whatever I give it won't be bad for the snake and keep the rat happy.

Try dog food, if you have any at hand.

Yeah I thought of that but my neighbors are out and we don't have any other pets accept our gecko.

Rats eat almost anything. cereal would be fine. bread / veggies are good too.

Apples, veggies, grains like rolled oats.

Yeah, rats aren't picky. Some oats, cheerios, bread, veggies, leftover chicken bones, whatever you had for dinner, etc. I would just avoid foods like iceberg lettuce, apples and things that might give it diarrhea. If its a male rat, avoid citrus fruits as well.

It seems happy now I through a little bit of food in there now. Didn't try and bite me so it should be safer now for feeding night! Hope she eats tonight.

    Thanks everyone.
