Sick BP?

I have a male BP around 2 1/2 years old. Usually he gets out and about fine around his cage, but sometimes he gets lazy and will stay under his shelter and won't move much unless I take him out. A few weeks ago he stopped moving around much, but he moves fine when I'm holding him, so I figured he is fine.
Yesterday I got him out and put him around my neck to clean his cage. It was also his feeding day, I hadn't been able to spray his cage much in the past two days because I've been sick with strep throat and was staying over at my grandmas and his humidity got a little low. So anyways, I got his food to where it was thawing out, and went to finish cleaning the cage, when he spit this clear liquid out on my hand. What does this mean? Is it a sign of upper respiratory infection? Or is it just something rare they do?

Could he have been drinking water before you picked him up?

I really don't think so, unless he was out before I came in, because I picked him up from under his shelter.

What was the consistency of it? Watery or thick like mucous?

It might be an RI, what you need to do is look in his mouth. If there is a lot of sticky mucus, then you have an RI on your hands.

Is there any easy way to look in his mouth without hurting him much?

It was sort of in the middle, I meant to put that. it's like that really stretchy spit you get after eating something sour.

Also, he has had this whistle he makes, but he has made this whistle ever since I bought him from a breeder in October.

Well a wheezing or a whistle can be a sign of an RI, and to open the mouth you can gently but firmly hold the back of the head and use the mid part of a q-tip to open up his mouth.

It's pretty easy to find a video on youtube demonstrating how to do this if you are unsure.

But stringy mucus is what you'd generally find in an RI.

Okay, I'm pretty positive it's an RI, I checked his mouth and it's a bit yellow and he has bubbles forming at the back of his mouth. I'm trying to get him to the vet today.
