    Covering Tank Screen
My snake is being housed a 40 gallon breeder. I need to use two heat sources to provide somewhat proper temps. I have no issue with the hot side, but sometimes the cool side isn’t ideal. I was wondering if I cover the screen top, if this could solve my issue with proper temps. I would really like to use just a UTH instead of a light bulb, and a UTH.

UTH's do not change the temperature of the air in the tank, all they do is heat the floor of the cage. this means that if your room gets below 75 degrees you will very likely need more than just a UTH to heat your cage. honestly tanks... especially large tanks like yours are nearly impossible to maintain proper heat/humidity in.

Covering the tank isn't going to do much if anything. Plus you can't completely cover it because that would restrict airflow too much.
