    Bite Club
I got my first tag about a year or so ago from my Boa. Now my wife has finally joined The Bite Club. We took out our 5.5 ft male this morning and he was a little freaked out. He started to go around my wife's neck (which she doesn't like to do) so she asked me to help get him off. Once I pulled him off he tagged my wife....right in the face!! We were both shocked. He got her just to the side of her mouth along and underneath the jaw. It happened so fast. I told her to relax and get control of him so we can go sit down. I didn't want to put him back so he would start thinking that biting was the best way to get rid of us. Once we got to the couch he was pretty calm. I told her it was a 5 Star bite. We have been laughing about it since. Hopefully now her fear of getting bitten by him is gone. We'll just have to have a better hold of him next time so he doesn't get scared. I am pretty sure that is what caused the incident. Has anyone else been bitten in the face before?

Wow thats kinda scary. After a bite to the face i would be very leary of holding the snake close to my face anymore. That just shows how different boas are from balls :/
I read in a thread awhile ago of someone who was talking with a boa around their neck and the snake struck and bit them on the inside of the mouth on their cheek...

Come on man let's not give boas a bad name! You know every snake has its own unique personality, I don't think a boa is any more inclined to bite then a ball :)

Yea, I got tagged right on the nose a couple months ago by a heavier ball.

Dang auto correct. I meant gravid ball (not heavier, though she was about 1600 g).

I had a close call. Here is a thread I started when my brothers burm was millimeters from tagging my face. He brushed my lip when he snapped before I even realized it had happened.

And coincidentally, this Friday I took my first snake bite in years of handling snakes. My female jungle carpet python grabbed my thumb while I was cleaning her tub. I think I get too relaxed being used to balls.

I think a bite to the face might unnerve me a little. My female bci is a little bit of a grump at certain times of the day, and she's gottan a good tag on me before. My rainbow boa tried to eat me a good few times before she tamed down, too.

And woooah beautiful burm. Feisty little thing... glad he didn't get a chomp on your mouth!

My BP clocks gotta be ticking, because I have a butter with a hell of an attitude and my albino girl has the feeding response of a leopard. If I've touched clothing that was anywhere near a rat and go near her cage she's out and about.

I didnt really mean my post how it came out even though it sounded like that. I was thinking like a bp wouldnt really come out and wrap around your neck like that and bps generally dont get that big either. So running into that situation with a bp probably wouldnt happen. I wasnt trying to say boas are biters, just noting the differences between the two species. I dont have any but i have held boas that big or bigger than 5.5ft around my neck and they were all very friendly :)
