thanks everyone, now how about where do i place the probe? I have flexwat tape going down the backside of the rack(back heat i think you call it). Do i want to tape it right to the flexwatt or do i just put it between the tape and tub? Sorry for the silly questions but like almost every ball keeper i started out with tanks and became overrun by tanks anyway its better for the snakes from what i hear. i have 4 at the moment however i have 8 emtey tubs and the white plains reptile show is in one week(YES). I guess im hooked

Yes it should be taped directly to the flexwatt. Don't use metal tape for taping probes it can deliver false readings. You will need to tweak the readings some to get the hot spot high enough. My rack I use 94º on the t-stat and get 90 in the tubs. I lose 4 degrees to the wall and space between. This will be very stable as long as your room heater is stable. The ambient (cool) side heat will come from the room heater. Most use an oil filled heater. many choose to run this on a on off industrial T-stat like a ranco or Johnson.
