Clean freak BP?

My albino BP name Big Money won't come down from top of the hide box, until I wash the tub from pee or poop. I know exactly when Big Money poop or pee from far away by look at where he sit. He also tolarate taking bath 2 times a week. I wash him and his tub two days after a meal and right after pee or poop. Is this normal behavior for BP? I have to wash his tub 2 to 3 times a week. :rolleyes: I use news papers.

I have a few that always do that. They will be sitting across the tops of hides and the water bowl waiting to be cleaned.
Of course there are also the ones that will curl up in the corner and cuddle with a big poo. :weirdface

If Quetzal's out of his hide and is chilling in his branches, I look at the bottom for a real big poop :P Last night I noticed him poking at his screen top, looked for it, and found a nice big turd right next to his warm hide. Apparently he doesn't like the smell :rolleyes:

Why do you bathe him 2 times a week? This is completely unnecessary and only stresses out your snake.

Same here.

most of mine also don't want to lay anywhere near the excretions. Sadly for me there is 2 that don't care and lay beside it and often become fouled and need to be cleaned... silly snakes.

Most of mine do that as well. I don't use hides but they defecate on the warm side and will go to the cool side for days if I don't clean it.

we put warm water in the big salad bowls and put left him in there for a few minutes. He never fight back to come out. He just put his chin on the edge and rest. We have to take him out of the water. It could be the freak of nature. His enclosure is plastic tub and we use news papers. Humidity is between 55%-65%. We had him since August of 2011 and haven't miss a weekly meal yet.

The only reason we put him in water is we let him roam on our bed. We just want him to be free of Rodent smell and free of pee or poop. For eight months, we have not seen any aggression or any refusal of a meal. That is the reason we assume that it is ok with this process.

Then again, I can be very wrong. I will take pics or video of the process and can you see that he is stress or not. I just don't want to harm my sweet boy.

I have a few that do the same. I also have one of the messiest ball pythons ever. She finds it funny to stroll through excretions on a regular basis which is just a horrible mess to clean.

I would suggest bathing your BP much less than you do now. I know you haven't seen anything yet but you could dry out the skin bathing that much. Honestly the only time I ever bathe a BP is if they are being treated for mites or they made a mess of themselves.

Really, if you are just letting him soak and he never refuses a meal or has trouble shedding, I can't see a problem with it. There is of course always the possibility of problems, but if you are careful it shouldn't be an issue.

Something you can consider is baby wipes. Unscented and non anti-bacterial if you can find them. You just wipe the snake with these, and presto!
