The story of Poo (and a question)
The story between the ------- is a bit gross. You've been warned.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a nice ~3ft ghost corn snake. He's very calm and doesn't mind being handled. He uses the bathroom like clock work. Feed him on Friday and he'll poop on Monday. Well today I had him out, watching for all of the signs. The lifted tail, the convulsing sides by the vent, everything that suggests its time to go. And nothing. Normally a good thing, I don't like my snakes pooping on me! Usually I let him crawl along the lip of the tank and down inside. I have had this fear that he would somehow spray the full length of the tank while resting up there, but luckily that hasn't happened.
Today something worse did.
He managed to lift his rear up and shoot poop out of the tank. For a gross analog model, imagine stomping on a full tube of toothpaste. He must have had a the right arc because it came all across my shirt (left armpit to right sleeve), dripped down the wire shelf, and a bit did streak down the glass. Totally gross! :puke: It smelled pretty rank too.

Now that the comical story is over...how do you clean up snake poop from the carpet?
So far I've just picked up what I could, changed shirts and washed the soiled on off, and used stain remover on the carpet. Seems to work well so far, but this adventure was only minutes ago.
Any tips or suggestions (other than the obvious - don't let them poo on the carpet)?

I wish I knew...this is why I never got the deposit back on my last apartment...
Re: The story of Poo (and a question)
Vanilla extract will help tremendously with the smell!

The carpet appears to be fine now.
We used paper towl, Resolve carpet cleaner, and a touch of Febreeze for the scent. Also, we burn scented wax in one of those wax melting pot things quite often so that helped too.
And yes, blot not rub.
Re: The story of Poo (and a question)
A question I have is whether BPs will poop on you in general. :snake:
My son has been handling her less these last couple days because he doesnt want to get pooped on, but from the sound of it, he could be waiting a couple weeks to handle her again.
This particular projectile story aside, is it usual for them to go just anytime anywhere, or do they usually like the comfort and privacy of their home? The only time she has pooped since we got her, it was in the middle of the night.
