Just Fed
So I had a problem girl. She was off feed since I have gotten her over two months ago. And she hadnt eaten two months prior to that. So today i offerred a live very small mouse hopper. She gobbled it up. So I offerred a live adut mouse too. She took it. Total of about 35 grams. She is about 800 grams. I am stopping there for the week rather than press my luck. Question is this. What shoud be offerred next week? Same amount, slighty more, or correct amount for her size? I was thinking I should bring her up gradually but dont know how gradual? Im guessing I will stick with mice for a few more weeks then try to move back to rats.

Next week offer her two adult mice, then get her going on rats.

It might take more than one week to get her back in the swing of things (rats), but I agree with Slim's thought. On week 2-3, you could even try offering her an adult mouse, then have the second meal be a weanling rat that was in the same cage (about the same size) so she makes the connection between the two.

Yeah I'm a little concerned about the switch back, but I'm just glad she is eating something. The only problem I have is my local supplier doesnt carry anything smaller than live small rats. All the weaned and pups are frozen.

You could try the same dirty bedding trick with a F/T weanling - just make sure the head is good and warm and offer after the live mouse. Or F/T mouse, if you are able to get bedding without having to buy live.
