Re: Thinking about getting into ATB or ETB
So been starting to do some research on ETB'S and ATB'S. So looking around and tring to figure out what to buy and wanted some input. Also as far as enclosures. I have an extra 15 quart tub laying around and thought about putting a few perches in it using paper towel substrate and 4 inch belly heat with flexwatt does this sound right. And also some input on what kind of snake ETB'S or ATB'S to buy. Thanks for the input.

I personally love ATBs. For an adult enclosure im pretty sure 2'x2'x2' is fine. I hope to eventually get one someday.

Ya the more I check them out the more I want one they are very cool animals. I think my setup will be ok for a juvy snake and eventually move them into I think a vision 66 quart rack or their cb 80 rack. Wasn't quite sure the belly heat for a smaller tub would be ok for a juvy but I think with the lid on style of enclosure it will heat up ok and provide enough heat as well as humidity.

My favorite is the "halloween phase" one. Etb and gtp are nice but they need a little bit of a bigger cage. I love the really slender body and skinny neck of a atb and then the big head on the end. To me they look like some sort of exotic viper lol. Good luck with whatever you choose.

ATBs are much more variable if you like having variety, go with them. They also stay a skinnier, but I believe [I]most[I] are less handleable than ETBs.

ETBs definitely have their own beauty, but just aren't as impressive to me.

A link to a lot of ATB info and my post with lots of ATB photos to get an idea of some of their variability - there are MANY more colors and patterns though - also a few morphs:

Also, just a warning - "halloween phase" atbs are not a currently recognized morph in the ATB community. So far it is just considered a variation, as the red coloration disappears with an ontogenetic color change.
