    Feeding and Size of Prey
I got a new ball python yesterday, I haven't had one in years, and am not sure what to feed him. The guy at the petstore said to feed him 2 mice a week. But he's fairly skinny, just weighed him and he's ~425grams. Should he be moved to rat pups or weaned rats? Two mice doesn't seem like enough to me.

Rule of thumb is 10-15% of snakes weight is what prey should be. Or as big around as your snakes widest part. I would get him on rats, he can definately handle a pup.

You want to feed him 10-15% of his body weight. So 2 adult mice should be ok or 1 weaned/small rat.

I'd try to switch him over to rats as soon as possible, much easier to match prey needs w/out feeding more than 1 when they get bigger.
