    Cb-70 Tubs and Belly heat
Hey guys i built this melamine tub with CB-70 tubs and trying to get my tmps correct. Right now the back of the racks are a perfect 92 degrees and the front is 70-75. Now when i move all the substrate over and measure the tub i get readings of 100... I have my renco set at 90 degrees measured directly from the heat tape. Are those 100 degree temps going to be too hot for a 41qt for direct belly heat?

Is that 92 degrees at the back of the tub a hot spot temp or an ambient temp? Same question for the front temps.

I'm confused as to how the bottom of your tubs can get up to 100 degrees under the substrate when your heat tape is regulated at 90 degrees

Thats what i said! I dont know whats up the ambient is 92 and when i move all the substrate its 100. I dont have any balls in the tubs yet.. Just trying to get everything perfect.

Where are you putting your temp probe?

Seems illogical to me that your heat tape is at 90, but the bottom of the tub is 100. Usually it works the other way around.

Unless, your heat tape is hotter than 90 degrees? Have you measured the tape temp with a temp gun?

I did just that i used my gun on the tape. I forgot to add im "piggy backing" 3" flex along side 4" flexwatt the 3" is running much hotter than the 4" go figure i have the probe on the 4" wouldnt think so

Should i probe the 3" or just ditch it and stick with 4" the only problem is when im just running the 4" the front of the tank gets under 70

You will need 2 thermostats or you will always have one running to hot or to cold. The only time you can use the same tstat is when it is the exact same heat tape, length, width, and wattage.

Well im going to probe the 3" to 90 and see what the 4" guns at. If its vise versa the 4" will be cooler ill check it in an hour or so.
