How long do they last in the freezer?
I'm trying to find somewhere to buy bulk rats from and found a place that I'm happy with. Im just wondering how long they keep in the freezer.

    Thanks guys!!

I've never tested exactly how long they can stay in without going "bad." Mine stay in the freezer for 2-4 months at a time and are fine as far as I can tell. ;)

I believe most people will say 6 months at least. They would probably be good longer but that's the longest I've ever had frozen rodents in the freezer. Make sure the bag they are in stays sealed to prevent freezer burn.

Look how long people keep meat in the freezer when they hunt or butcher their own dinner. At LEAST 6 months. Most have some for around a year when butchering

it all depends on how often they are exposed to open air, what i do is break down the large bulk order when they come in, into weekly amounts to reduce the open air time allowing them to last longer, Rodent Pro says 6-12 months if kept properly.

    This...

As a butcher myself, I say 6 months to a year at the.most. just remember, they are WHOLE animals, not primals or sub-primals.

I read a while back in the reticent nation on Facebook someone keeps then for 18-24 months.. to long IMO. If you wouldn't eat it after that amount of time then don't feed it to your snake. They're not a garbage disposal. :)

You sure? I think Quetzal would eat my cat's kibble if it smelled enough like a mouse :D

When I lived with my parents, we fed our dogs raw venison, and we didn't keep any meat that was either 6-12 months old or was visibly freezer burned OR that stank when we thawed it. If you wouldn't eat it yourself if it was a steak, then don't feed it to your snake :gj: Minus any vegetarians/vegans roaming out there, of course.

Yeah that's around what I was guessing =P if I got 2 years worth for my adult bp, my baby would catch up and I'm planning on getting two more bp's at the san Diego show this year so I'm sure I could use them all before a year rolls around haha

I was looking at American rodent supply, does anyone know how much they charge for shipping outside of Their free shipping zone? Like say san Diego, ca? Lol I don't want to submit a full order and then have it be way more expensive then the other sites =/
