Picked up a cheap temp gun.
Well I picked up a ZooMed Reptitemp IR temp gun today pretty cheap. I didn't want to wait for an online order so I grabbed it a new shop that just opened here. It seems pretty darn good although it is a 1:1 distance but actually I think that is easier to find the avg of a larger spot. It seems to be accurate as it is within 1 degree of three digital probe thermometers.

Anyone else use this one at all? Just curious to see opinions. I only have one snake and a gecko and I have the probe thermometers I just wanted something I can do a quick check with.

I almost always use temp guns to find the average of a general area; it's not like the snake sits on just one tiny area, so I try to find the average of an area roughly the size of where my snakes sit.

The ZooMed gun is honestly pretty snazzy for the price. I like it, and I've been using the ProExotics one for about 6 years now... It's super comparable. Time will tell if it lasts as long as the ProExotics one does, though. I still have my first PE temp gun!

Yeah the more I play with it the more I like it as a basic user. Of course only one day with it. I know that a lot of people like a better D:S ratio but the 1:1 is nice and easy to work with. If I am 6" away it is a 6" spot assuming my logic is correct and please correct me if I am wrong. I also like the min max and lock functions. Not bad for $35 CAN. I may pick a second temp gun when I go to my first reptile expo this summer. Just to have another around. I am hoping they have the PE2 there.
