    Bowl wrapping after ovy?
Is it normal for a female to continue to bowl wrap after she ovulates? My female that I'm 100% certain ovulated last week is still bowl wrapping. She did at least move the water bowl over to the warm side, but I thought they stopped this after ovy.

You know, it wouldnt surprise me. As you most likely already know they do predictable things during breeding season, however mine do wierd stuff all the time that get me wondering. I think for the most part they follow the "rules" but some are just wierdos so I wouldnt put it past one to bowl wrap after ovy especially if the bowl is on the hotside, maybe she thinks she needs more humidity. Whos knows:confused: From what I have seen with mine and what I have heard they generally dont bowl wrap after ovy though, maybe yours like to heat up her bowl like a hot tub and them heat herself with it :)

Do you have pics of the Ovy? They will normally stop bowl wrapping after ovulation. They will thermoregulate though. What are your hot spot temps? It could be way too hot for her.

Lol, she was sitting in it the other day so maybe she does just want the hot tub feel. I had to mop up her tub because she spilled most of the water out when she decided to go for a dip.

My hot spot is 91 (using a temp gun). As for pics of ovy they are in this thread: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...building-right

She clearly went through major tail suck last Friday, there was no mistaking it.

You have to ask yourself, 'why do they wrap the bowl in the first place?' bowl wrapping actually has less to do with them developing follicles and more to do with their stomach feeling uncomfortable (think cramps). The reason that they bowl wrap while developing follicles is because they're stomach feels uncomfortable, but developing follicles is not the only reason they're stomachs can feel uncomfortable. Who knows? maybe it could just be a touch of indigestion.

Most everything they do after ovulating has to do with keeping the eggs at a proper temperature.
If she's bowl wrapping then she is probably trying to lower her eggs temperature.

Well, I wouldn't be too concerned. They do weird things! Last year I had a corn snake lay eggs while she was in her pre-lay blue phase, so who knows.

It happens and its not uncommon, I had 3 girls hug this year after ovy and one hugged the bowl days before laying

I have a gravid female that's been wrapped around her bowl since she had her POS a few days ago. They just do what they do, it's not an exact science, just certain behaviors to look for.

Thanks everyone. I just wasn't sure what was going on. She's my only breeding female who's ovulated so far and the other three don't even look like they are thinking about ovulating any time soon. :P
