    Shipping to Canada
Just wondering if anyone has had any bp's shipped from the states to Canada and what the price was or would be.

I haven't, there are some members here from Canada that can probably give you a better answer than I can.

My impression was that it was very expensive to do so. Not sure on an actual number though.

Better off buying from a Canadian breeder. I can point you in the right direction if you need.

Ya I was thinking it would be pretty expensive. It's probably cheaper to just find what I want from the breeders around here.

Most US breeders that I have looked at only ship to Canada if you're buying over 3000 in snakes. I suggest finding a Canadian breeder. I know of a few if you need to find some :)

I know a few whom have done it but the cost is quite high. The one I have spoken to a number of times said it was quite high (if I remember correctly just over a 1000$ for the cites and shipping) he said doing it again he would travel down and do it himself, it might cost a bit more but at least you get a trip and knowing the animal is not sitting in some depo some place.

    Re: Shipping to Canada
I know this thread is a few months old but had a question. I have someone that contacted me and was interested in a few snakes. I did the research and determined that a CITES permit is required to import snakes into Canada. However I was considering driving the snake up their myself. I was wondering if CITES was still needed. Also what is the cost of the permit. I know it said on the thread $1000 but that was for shipping also. I just want to drive up there. Any ideas?

I understand that you must have the CITES permit no matter what I also think you need a USDA vet certificate too and perhaps USFWS inspection all before or during ? the crossing I believe this is where the expense lies. VPI will include them is you buy a 7500$ animal.

I think it is only worth it, if a two-three party breeder share the price and purchase one huge amount (1 snake at XXXX value) or a bunch totally up XXXX value. Unless you have the money and time to do it yourself. Just research the Canadian Breeders and try and find what you need. There are a lot of options now, with west coast and east coast breeders getting bigger in name.

Most breeders will require a minimum sale of 3k to 5k before they will even humour the idea.

Shipping will run you an estimated $800 to $1200 with all of the proper paperwork included. Pick-ups are typically available at larger hubs, in ON you would need to pick-up from Pearson Intl.

When I spoke with NERD they were willing to allow me to purchase a group of animals and hold them until they were able to be shipped with a second order to reduce the shipping costs to me alone. If you choose to do something like this you need to make arrangements with the second buyer.

Trying to purchase an animals and drive them across the border still requires all of the proper paperwork as you are essentially exporting the animal. If you are doing something like this it is best to contact a brokerage agency to draw up the required paperwork, this will COST you.
