    Aluminum Tape + UTH
Is it safe to use aluminum foil tape to cover the sticky side of an UTH (so that it can be reused)? I have been doing that for a year or so, but thought I would double check to make sure I am not creating a fire hazard by doing so, or somehow risking the integrity of the heating mat.

It's probably not the best idea, you aren't supposed to cover entire thing with tape. (there are issues with reflecting heat and temperature build up) this can be helped if the thermostat probe is directly on the UTH

This is the most coverage I personally feel safe with (picture shows flexwatt but the same principals apply)

Well, according to THIS STICKY THREAD it seems to be ok if you remove one and want to be able to reuse it.
