    Feeding live feeding response
I just got a new bp weight is 449g. The guy i got him from told me he was eating live mice. Eventually i hope to switch it to f/t rats. How long does it take your bp's to trigger the feeding response once you put the mouse/rat in to feed? How long should i be waiting before i remove the feeder?

Depends on how hungry the snake lol. Heck sometimes mine will hit the mouse before it hits the box :P but I would keep an eye on it for about 20 minutes, if she doesn't seem interested in it, then take the mouse/rat out.

All of my snakes are different, thus have different trigger times. But they all strike and coil within seconds to a minute of putting the prey item into their tubs.

For live, I wouldn't leave a prey item alone with the snake for longer than 30 minutes max. After 30 minutes, pull out the prey and wait to feed again next week.
Hungry and scared rats/mice = potentially dangerous animals.

A hungry adult rat will eat your snake when left alone too long.

Depending on your snakes' feeding response, if he has a strong response, I would just start off with trying f/t.

I agree with the above posts, just never leave a live rodent alone/unattended with your BP.

My mojave takes about 10 minutes on the first one, then hits the second one almost immediately.

My male hits within a minute on rats. When he was smaller on mice he would occasionally take up to 15 mins or so... but since switching, as soon as he realizes its in there, he's about 10 seconds from striking.

I've never left a live feeder in with my snake without me being right there tongs in hand.
