So if I am making my own cages from tubs, and I can maintain the right humidity do you think i should make a humid hide along with my other 2 hides?

If you have proper humidity humid hides are not necessary.
Humid hides should only be used during shed. Otherwise if a BP sits in one all the time they are at a high rush for a sicknes called scale rot.

Humidity holds very well in tubs. I would not make a humid hide. Only at shed time maybe to bump humidity.

If you want added humidity in a tub you can just slide the water bowl back towards the hot spot, no humid hides needed in tubs.

This is something I don't understand. What's the difference between them hanging in a humid hide and hanging in the enclosure that's got the same humidity? Wouldn't they still be at risk of getting the scale rot with constant enclosure humidity?

The humid hide is usually considerably more humid, 10% to 20%, than the ambient humidity in the enclosure. In some areas were its dry, Arizona etc., it's much easier to just increase the humidity in a hide than increase the humidity of the entire enclosure, hence the use of a humid hide. But yes, if your enclosure is too moist, there is a decent chance they will get scale rot just by being in the enclosure.

Yeah I'm using a tub as well, and it holds humidity great and sheds have been perfect so far. so, humid hide not really necessary if your humidity is good.

Do you know how you make a humid hide?
You fill a hide with a wet substrate. It isn't the humidity in the air that is the problem its the dampness of the moss or whatever you use to make the humid hide that is the issue.
