Eggs question...

I checked on the eggs today to take off the saran wrap to recirculate the air and noticed some brown spots on the eggs. They all candled with good veins still, but just curious if this is pretty normal or if I should do anything different to prevent it?

They look fine. Last year my eggs developed those spots as well without any problems. Good luck. What was the pairing on the parents?

Alright thx, they are het pied x het pied

If for some reason I do start to notice any mold growth (knock on wood), how do I manage/deal with it?

Get rid of the press n' seal or whatever you are using. You don't need it if you are going substrateless, just make sure the verm or whatever you are using stays pretty wet. As for the spots that's fairly normal, but get rid of the plastic wrap for good measure.

For mold, any anti-fungal powder from the local drugstore will do the trick. Won't harm the eggs and will nuke the mold. However watch your humidity, might leave it open for a day to let it dry out a bit. Lastly make sure you have good air circulation, makes a big difference too. Good luck.

Depending on how well the tubs seal, you could still need the press n' seal. I had my eggs nearly floating over the verm/water last year, and still had them collapsing too early (within days of going into the inc). I switched to different tubs this year, and no longer need the wrap.

Alright thanks, I took the press n seal off yesterday after I posted. I am using 7ct locking lid containers so they seal themselves pretty well.

I appreciate the sugguestions!
