Shed help

Ok, my ball python, which i've had for over 3 weeks, is about to shed. His eyes turned the cloudy blue color, so i need to know what to do and when to do it. i've seen people post about gatorade...when do i soak him in that? When do i increase humidity? do i need to feed him on the regular schedule? anything else i need to know?

You don't need to soak it in gatorade. If you provide a water dish big enough for him to soak in, and your temps are correct, he will soak as he needs to. A few days after the eyes clear up, he will shed. They usually won't eat when in shed. I always wait until they are done to feed them.

Gatorade? Though a good soaking in water is all my BP needed, the gatorade thing is interesting.

Some people use gatorade to rehydrate dehydrated snakes. Supposedly it works well. I've never tried it, and am skeptical of it.

Ohhhh, okay, I remember reading that on the leopard gecko forum a few years ago for dehydrated geckos. I thought it'd be kinda funny to see a BP sitting in a dish full of neon yellow water...

eh well some ppl posted about that on the kingsnake.com forums. That place just went to hell i guess. their boards are down and everything...haha.

humidity should be around 80 right?

Humidity should never be around 80%..thats way too high and you would be risking an RI. Humidity should be between 50-60% no matter if your snake is shedding or not.

i raise my hummidity to between 65 and 70 when the shed is about 4 days away and it has never cause any problems for me infact they've usually had perfect sheds.
but 80% is definitly to high
