    How to contain dust???
So breeding my own rats for my collection is going great but I can't stand the amount of dust they put off in my snake room. Keeping everything clean is becoming a constant chore and with my collection growing so is the amount of rats. I use the pressed wood pellets under the bedding to help cut down on the smell and it works great but I believe it's also the cause of this crazy amount of dust. I am already using (2) of the DIY air filters and there's still dust everywhere. I would love to build a rat room on the outside of my home but my HOA wouldn't allow it so I have no choice but to keep it inside. Have any of you built an enclosed room within your home for your rats? I'm just looking for ideas at this point and would appreciate any and all serious advice.

I use the wood pellets too. Not just for rats, but ferret litter as well. The wood pellets break down into saw dust when wet. I clean bedding and litter pans at least once or twice a week. Yes, it gets pretty dusty when I dump them into the trash. But other than that moment of cleaning, I'm not really seeing the dust fly or go around the room. I guess my air purifier is doing its job?

Honestly, besides the air purifier and regular cleaning, I'm not sure there's any other way to cut down on dust other than changing the bedding before it breaks down or type of bedding to something less dusty.

I clean my tubs every Saturday and by the looks of the filters the DIY air purifiers are picking up a lot of the dust. What type of purifier are you using? I'm thinking about building an enclosed room/box in my basement big enough to house 3 - 8 tub racks with fresh air being pushed in the bottom and 2 exhaust fans in the top running to the outside of my home. Other than cleaning snake tubs I never had to clean the snake room so much before which sucks because it dubs as my office.

Perhaps a curtain, even a shower curtain hung from the ceiling in front of the cages would contain the dust better? Than maybe a fan to blow dust to the floor, hung from above facing down? I use pine pellets with a paper towel or two for softness.

Would a crappy sheet with really low thread count be ok to put over the rack? If it was low thread count then air would still be able to get through so they wont suffocate.
