Eggs Pock Marked on Day 2??

What do you guys think? A cursory search of the web suggests that this has to do with the calcium of the egg and that they will hatch just fine. Looks like the "pock-marks" have developed where the discolored spots were yesterday.

They're in a 6qt tub with about 1.5in of vermiculite that's literally saturated to the point of puddles (the eggs are on a light diffuser so nothing is touching the eggs). I'm using this to measure temps and humidity and its reading 87.5 degrees and 86% humidity.

Bump up your humidity to as close to 100% as possible. But they look good anywho

To bump the humidity, you'll need to seal the lid/cover better. You may need some press 'n seal. Good luck!

We have hatched all of our eggs the last 3 seasons at 87 to 90 percent humidity with no losses.
You do not need 100% humidity to hatch eggs and that's a great way to find out what mold growth looks like.
If the eggs start to dent in early just add some water to the tub.

You hit it on the nail, calcium deficiency causes the pock marks, no worries as long as you incubate them correctly they should hatch out just fine.

What these guys said. The pocked coloration isn't an issue, but they look like they're starting to dimple in the picture, which means your humidity is escaping somewhere. Before I switched to the locking tubs, which seem to seal better, I used press n' seal between the top of the tub and the lid. Just "burp" it every few days.

Same here, we found no need for press n seal with the 7qt locking lid sterilite tubs, they hold humidity better than cheap $1 sterilite 6qt tubs.

The whole burp the tubs thing is over rated. The only time you need to burp the containers is the last week of incubation. Your eggs look a bit dry. Like other have said, add a bit of water.

It probably is overrated, but I can't stop myself from peeking in on them at least once a week anyway, so it takes care of itself. :P
