if you could own just one snake, and it had to be a colubrid... what would it be and why?

If I could only own ONE snake, and it HAD to be a Colubrid...........
I would know I had died and gone to hell! :twisted: (Mainly because of the one snake part, but Boids are my first love!)

Though now endangered, no doubt that it would have to be a Indigo. Having owned a couple in my time, I have many memories of a 7 footer named Winchester. He was pretty much a free roamer in the house. Never had any trouble with him being allowed to roam free and never had trouble with any rat's or mice in the house either. A very gentle giant.

Either a Trans-Pecos ratsnake (Bogertophis subocularis) or black milksnake (Lampropeltis triangulum gaigeae). I have several of both & find them to be great, friendly, hardy colubrids to keep. Not to mention black milks can easily hit 7' at adulthood, and the babies aren't musking, biting little spitfires like most milks. They're squirmy, but that's about it. The perfect milksnake!

I'm reading this right after our rescued Trans Peco Ratsnake strting eating (first time on own!!) That's great to see other people owning them.

Glad to hear your suboc is finally taking off for you! They are EXTREMELY susceptible to problems caused by high humidity, so keep an eye on that (I'm sure you've probably already done your homework, but never hurts to mention! ;))
Subocs are great snakes...I sure do miss catching them back home.
