Thermometer for Incubators

Was looking for something more efficient as the Acurites thermometers I use for my racks aren't showing to be accurate for incubator. Might have a bad probe sensor that dont read well.

I noticed the probe was always 1-1.5F cooler than the temps on the top of incubator, When temp gun reads 88-89.5 the Acurite probe only read 87.1-.3 regardless where i put the probe on the top.

So i went on a hunt and found this that came back with great reviews and is meant for measuring air temps very well.

Should be great for those wanting a unit to measure top and bottom of incubators and even walk ins as well. The unit has an alarm when set temps are too cool or hot. For the price, cant beat it as locally they sell for 49-59.

well considering most freezers are not really moist, my concern would be on its ability to handle incubator humidity without going bad?

I've been using this one for a few years. I've got three sensors though, so I can do up to three individual egg tubs on the one receiver. Temps, and humidity readings. It's held up great as far as the humidity goes. I park it on the coffee table, and it picks up the readings from the basement.

Theres no need to ever keep humidity in the incubator only the tubs. And the battery compartment on this one is sealed so it can be used inside the egg tubs as well if wanting to.

I dont know many people that keep the incubator with high humidity as its pointless if your using lids on your egg tubs.

pretty much what i was asking about if the unit was sealed to protect it from the moisture, because most refrigerators/freezers are generally low or dry humidity.

They seem dry but when food is in there and opening it few times a day, the Evaporator works harder extracting the heat to eliminate moisture build up, but its there on Hot day. This is also the unit that is the COLDEST part of the fridge due to this.

But even if it wasnt sealed you could still use it as 100% humidity will not harm the unit unless water is poured on directly.

But this unit is mostly for readign the ambient temps, and i still use the temp gun to spot check temps inside the tubs.

Well wanted to update thread, as I finally Set up the Unit.

After 30 mins of it updating and reading temps. I found a System that reads air temps properly and within .5 of my temp gun. Incubator is set at 88 and im getting 88 bottom at 89 top on the thermometer. Temp gun reads 88.5-89.5 so im happy. I could level it out more if i did more tweaking with fans but im not gonna bother at all
