    How Long Until Eggs?
So today marks 27 days since my girl's pre-lay shed. She's looking a little ridge-backed and I'm getting excited! She's been laying in a coil pretty much exclusively for the past week or so (although I've noticed her tail has always been on the outside and her head on the inside of the coil). I'm finding it really hard to not check on her too often!

So here's my question of the day: How long have you had a female go from her pre-lay shed till eggs? I've heard everywhere from 25-30 days, but I was wondering if some of ya'll had some extreme examples.

Also, anyone have a girl lay during the daytime? Or do you find that it's pretty much exclusively a night-time activity?

I've always been told 30 days and anytime. I'll be finding out soon for myself as well.

I would say my average is 30 days or so; however, I've had them as early as 22 days and as late as 45 days post shed. Also, in my experience, 99% are layed overnight. I check in the am when I wake up and most of the time they are done and wrapped around the eggs. I've caught a couple laying and I've had a couple start mid-morning but those are the exception.

My girls usually go later than 30 days, but I have had them lay at 30 days and out to 44 days. I have a girl right now on day 35. It's all up to them. It'll happen.

I'm kind of in the same situation. Ive been pairing since September and she stopped locking in janurary. She ate once after that and it seemed like was getting very thick over time. I never seen ovulation, or really any striking signs. Its day 35 now (uuuugh) and its driving me crazy. I just hope she lays at all.

I always tell people anywhere around 30-50 days. The longest I have had one go is 52, and I haven't had any go at or less than 30.

The best thing to do is look closely at your female. You can see where the eggs are and how far down towards the cloaca they are. As mentioned 30 days after shed is the norm but I can always tell who is going to lay early and who is going to lay late by how low or high the eggs are sitting. Keep an eye on that and you will know the day before that they are gonna blow!
