is running the flexwatt tape the length of the tub ok?
most racks I see have the flexwatt running the width of the tub.. will running it along the long side make a difference? will I get a good enough gradient?

It depends on the dimentions of the tub. With a large tub it might work but it isn't a good idea with most.

I wouldn't think you would get proper hot and cool sides with tape the full length. We have a strip width wise under about 1/3 of one end of tub. But have never tried what you are talking about.

If you use 3" flexwatt length wise there will be plenty cool side to cool off as well as a ncie warm spot as well. Doing this does help keep ambient temps up in cooler rooms

As I said it depends on the size of the tub, small tubs probably won't work well but larger tubs will probably work.

What size flexwatt are you using?

I'd say 3" would be fine
