What should I get?

Assuming I can convince my wife it is okay to get another pet snake, what should I get?

I have room for a 30x12x12 or a 36x18x12. Possibly a 30x12x18 or a 24x12x16. Basically your 20 or 20L, your 30, or a 29 gal.

I have outlets for heat pad, heat lamp, etc. I do not have any more room so it would have to be able to live its life comfortably in any of these tanks/enclosures.

I already have 3 snakes (2 corns, 1 BP), so keeping the food supply the same (F/T rats or mice) would be great. That is no cricket eating lizards. I'm not looking for anything aquatic either. Something arboreal would be awesome, but I'm not sure I could meet the height requirements. Maybe semi-arboreal?

I feel as though I could handle something moderately difficult. The only issue I would have is something that needed super high humidity. If the humidiy requirements are no more than a BP, then I should be fine. (Our base humidity is around 50% and I can bump it 20-30% higher for sheds). I can make it as hot as I want it seems. Ambient day temps of the house while we're at work are around 79F (saves on out A/C bill and the snakes love it!)

What I want is a beauty snake or a vine snake, but I just don't see that happening.

What about an ATB? You would want to go with a little more heighty enclosure though, maybe a 24" cube. Athough they're fiesty little buggers, they are beautiful and exciting as can be.

Can you go a bit more in height??? If so, a 36x18x24 exo terra enclosure would be fine for a Green Tree Python. So many folks think they are difficult to care for when they really are not. Sure, they're perhaps a bit more touchy than a BP, but if the BP is the volkswagon of the snake world, a GTP is only a mustang and NOT a maserati (as far as care and maintainence is concerned - I do consider them a luxury snake to own, lol). If you can maintain about 70% humidity for them with the additional misting each morning, you'll be fine! Exo Terras hold humidity really well - they're designed for it.

I don't know what the care requirements are for a beauty snake or a vine snake, but I know they aren't particularly large. Why do you think it wouldn't be possible to have one?? I say, if that's what you really want, then work towards it!

Have you considered an African House Snake?

The blue beauty I saw at the serpentarium was at least 8 feet. I don't have room for that. I could probably handle a 6 foot one but no more.

I'llook more into a gtp or an atb.

Will also look into African house snake.

Ok, didn't know the beauties got that big. Are the vine snakes big too? I guess I thought they were smaller....

Either way, it's still something to work towards for the future!

What about an asian green vine snake? Or parrot snake?

There a varaity of types of beauty snakes. Taiwan, vietnamese, blue, etc. Wikipedia says these are different subspecies. Each subspecies might average at different lengths, but I don't know which ones are usually shorter. Every pet store calls them something different as well, so I wouldn't want to take the gamble and hope that I'm getting a shorter one. The people at the Serpentarium breed them and they sell them, so I could get one easily, but it was theirs that were up to 9 feet. Here's a link about the snake in general.
