He might be a she

I got my first ball python at the expo here in Ontario a few weeks ago. I bought it as a male but I've tried to pop him and not finding any hemipenes. Ive never tried doing this but I can't be that hard could it? Anyways I want to get a probing kit to verify.

Welcome to my world, i had what i thought was a 2000g male in with a 1600g female... Totaly backwards...lol.. Good thing both are big enough to breed...lol

Are there any breeders or more experienced keepers in your area? It's easier to learn how to pop from someone who knows what they're doing. He very well could be a he...some are harder to pop than others. Is this snake a juvi or an adult?

Be careful with probing. You can really hurt your snake if you don't know what you're doing.

Slim's right on point here...better to have someone show you before you do it yourself. Popping isn't hard, but if you don't do it right, you won't get proper results. I've never probed, and though I should learn, haven't had a need to do it yet, but I certainly wouldn't be comfortable gaining my probing education on YouTube.

He is weighing in at 416 full right now so juvenile I guess.

Yes, at that weight, I think you can safely assume he's a juvie. The reason I asked is because adults can be very difficult to pop due to their muscle tone and development.

Finding some one who can give you a hands-on demonstration is really the best way to learn. Good Luck!

Aside from what everyone else has already said, popping takes a lot more pressure than you would imagine.

Lots of people tend to underestimate how much they have to press in order for the hemipenes to come out.

But yea, try finding someone to show you in person. The knowledge of sexing a snake is always helpful as a keeper.
