I found these small sterilite tubs at Walmart the other day that are the perfect size hides for juvie to sub-adults, the only problem is that they only come in clear. So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I could black them out safely. :D

Krylon sells a paint that is specifically for plastic, but I'm not sure I would trust it around my snakes. Even after it's dry is could continue to off-gas...but then again, so does plastic.

Go to Wal-Mart and get some stick-on contact paper and stick it to the outside of the tubs to black it out.

I would be very very careful about using anything with an adhesive backing in a snake enclousure.

Edit: Just went back and re-read your post. You're talking about blacking out the tubs...he was talking about blacking out the hides. I understand the disconnect now. My bad for not reading your post more closely.

    Like what LGrey23 did:

Place along each side and back, this can get tricky as air bubbles like to get between the plastic and adhesive. (If you aren't using the Con-tact paper, spray paint the sides and back of the container, you may need more than one can!)

hehehe, yea I went back and saw your post edit. Guess my reading comprehension is bad today. I had to go back and realize the OP was talking about the hides and not the tubs...

Ya those were the only two ideas I could come up with too but neither seem very safe to me and I don't want anything to happen to my babies. :D
