What is the longest your BP has gone without eating?

Been a few months for mine and it has me bothered.

The longest I've had one off feed was just over 10 months.

Just saw your poll too...I've had quite a few go off for over 2 months.

Why do they do that?

The longest I have had any of mine go off was 6-8 weeks, but I know that some can go without eating for over a year.

Any number of reasons...breeding being a big one. Some of my females have gone off feed for a few months in the 800-1100 gram range...why? I have no idea. They eat when they eat and don't when they don't. Not a great answer, but a big part of keeping balls is dealing with them not always eating when you want them to.

My pinstripe girl didn't eat for the first 10 and a half months I had her(I bought her at 850ish grams), not once...she was kept the same as every other ball I have, offered rats, mice, soft furs, live, prekilled, f/t...she just wouldn't eat.

My female routinely goes off feed for 5 months out of every year. She may take a small mouse or two during that time, but considering she's 7 years old mice aren't exactly nourishing.

Keeping proper temperatures and providing good hides is key to having your BP eat. It doesn't take much variance from the ideal temperatures (78-82 cool side, 88-92 hot side) to stress them out enough to stop eating.

My big female just started up eating after being off since middle of december. I put her in a bigger tub ad had her lock with my spider. Something helped anyways.

My male pastel is at 116 days and holding. He's only lost about 100 grams so I'm not too worried. I sure wish he'd go back to eating though...
