Alright, so I have a couple of corns. They're each in their own 20L with heat pad at night and a low watt bulb during the day. I have absolutely no husbandry issues. They're happy as can be.
I live in Florida and spend many hours away from the apartment while at work. I usually turn the AC setting to 77 while I'm away. I also have a ball python with a warm spot in her tank up towards 90, so having part of her tank as low as 77 during the day doesn't seem to be an issue.
For the corns, this puts one side of their tanks down to 77 and the other is usually in the upper 80s.
I was wondering, could I safely eliminate the low watt heat bulbs for the corns and just set my AC to 79 or 80? They wouldn't exaclty be able to regulate temp because the entire tank would be 80, but I can't imagine them overheating. I could keep the heat lamps on, but that seems too hot to me.
I'm sure my BP wouldn't mind a few more degrees during the day too.
It just seems counter intuitive to run my AC only to have a heat lamp on my snakes.
