Wondering about my Habitat

I'm curious if I got the perfect set up for my ball, any advice and ways to change it will be greatly appreciated!!

I have this heater placed next to my tank to keep a constant tempurature

This is the cool side hide and water bowl, I have the exo terra moss, I dont know if this is ideal but I got it because it holds moisture good

Last but not least! This is my hot side , I have a UTH underneath that hide there

Again any advice will be awesome and I'm sure vegeta ( my Bp ) will love it to!

Ok, the moss isn't the best, I would go with Eco-earth (coco husk) before moss, but it isn't a big deal as long as you don't keep it too wet (can cause scale rot)

some more minor things:

1. It is generally recommended to provide 2 identical hides. this way the BP doesn't have to give up his favorite hide (give up security) to thermoregulate. (some wil do the opposite, they won't give up their favorite hide so they don't regulate their temperature properly) this is an issue with some BP's and not with others.

2. I don't see any thermometers, how are you measuring temperatures?

3. Is the UTH currently plugged in? if so I would unplug it until you have a thermostat.

4. Do you run the white heat lamp all the time? if not does the tank temperature drop at night when it is off? I much prefer infrared heat bulbs as they don't bother the snake and can be left on 24/7. here is a good one: http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...uctId=11147193

Everything I've read recommends using identical hides one for hot side and one for cold, also make sure your ambient air temps don't get too low (uth don't heat up the air just the substrate) I'm thinking nothing below 75 but not 100% sure, also night time temp drops aren't recommended so if that lamp is helping to heat during the day and off at night you will get temp drops, but I see the heater, you might just switch the light out for an infrared heat bulb zoo med makes a good one and run it 24/7 for your ambient temps just monitor them, you might want to use a rheostat with it

you are correct, no part of the enclosure should ever get below 75 degrees or above 95 degrees.

Iv got a thermostat and a hydrometer stuck to the inside on both sides the plants hide them, I have the light wich is only uv (no heat comes from it) on a timer and it's set to come
On for four hours in the day time then off the rest. The heater on the side keeps my hot side at around 90 all the time and the cool side at high 70's to low 80's. The wet towel trick worked perfect for the humidity it is always above 50 now. I will deffinetly unplug the UTH until I have a thermostat and I'll be heading to the pet store tmr to get an identical hide, our pet store isn't that great :( I highly doubt I'll be able to get an identical one, he seems to enjoy both the hides equally tho, thank you for all of your help guys this is my first bp and I want him to live his life exactly how its meant to be

The pet store where I got my Bp was using the same hide as on your hot side and my bp was bunched up in there looked like it had sharp edges, didn't seem good for the snake but that's how it "looked"

He loves the one on the hot side, and Iv handled it many times there are no sharp edges and the holes are large enough to fit a snake four times his size, when I bought it out of town I took it out of the box at the store to check for sharp edges and all was smooth and round

Why do you have a UV bulb? BP's do not need any UV like some reptiles do. It isn't bad for them, but there also isn't any gain.

Those stick on thermometers and hydrometers are crap, they only work for a short period of time and are known to be inaccurate.
I suggest that you get one of these from Walmart. They cost $12 and measure 2 temperatures and humidity all in one package. It is very important to have a probed thermometer when using a UTH because as has been said already UTH's do not affect the air temperature in the tank so you have to have a probe sitting over it in the cage to moniter the temperature.

It just looked sharp but like I said I never touched it just saw him up in it, for now I just use 2 little black bowls from Walmart they labeled them salsa bowls, not fancy but serve their purpose for now just had to cut out the openings myself, I made 2 from a DIY forum on here but they were too big

That probe on the thermostat and hydrometer, how would you
Place these in your tank I just went and bought two of them one for each side
