Silly old Pet shop girl

I went to get fang a new hide so he couldn't get his eyes all scratched up from rubbing them because of his cuts. Well while looking at the hides that they had a girl that worked there asked me if everything was alright. I told her yes I was just look around at the hides. I told her that I was treating him for mites and she asked me what I was using for substrate. I told her I was using paper towels and she looked shocked she said no use the green mat stuff and I told her no that PT was fine it helps me see if the mites are there and running around and when they are gone I am going back to eco-earth. She says now there why you have mites , eco-earth will give them to your snake. I paused and said no that is not why he got them as he had them while on aspen. I should of said no Fang got them because of where you got him from or your other snakes had them and gave it to him but didn't. Now here is a question can eco-earth give your snake mites and if so why do they sell it?

This is what I thought . Where I live there is a Petsmart a half hour away who I can not get live feeders from as Fang won't eat frozen and them which is half hour away and where I got him from. Now some of the people that work there are ok people but they do need to clean the store as there is dust on alot of things. I like them more then Petsmart but I feel like I need to go work there just to get things cleaned.

People here like to rip into pet store employees. You know they have to pay rent just like you. Maybe she doesn't know what she's talking about but neither do have the employees at lowes or home depot. Or anywhere that pays barely above minimum wage.

I agree she probably did not know what she was talking about . the problem is just because they're not making a higher wage they think they're allowed to do a crappy job. How hard is it to educate yourself in whatever job you are doing ? it shouldn't matter what kind of wage you are making you should always give it your best effort. I can't tell you how many times I've heard people say if they paid me more I would do a better job. my response was if you did a better job I would pay you more, I don't care what kind of wage you are making if you accept a wage for doing a job you should always do your best .that includes educating yourself on the products and services you are doing. nobody forces these people to take these jobs .if they don't like their jobs or are incapable of doing them they should find something better suited to their needs. Any job doing is worth doing well. a little work ethic is what these people need .

I pay bills and know everything I can about my job, and learn things I don't know. It's really not that difficult...

I don't know about you but I leave work at work. I wouldn't spend hours studying pseudo facts off the interwebs during my off hours for a crappy job in retail. Have you ever worked in retail? or any job that serves the public? If you serve the public at your job I guarantee that you don't get paid enough. And the especially don't get paid enough to listen to snotty kids tell them about what someone else told them on the interwebs.

That's not to say the person wasn't an idiot. Who knows, maybe the forum they belong to told them misinformation. I seriously doubt everything on this forum is undeniable fact.

If this person is selling animals, a life that is dependant on the care provided by its owner, THEY SHOULD KNOW what they are talking about. Todays generation has no work ethics, or pride in a job well done. And the poor animals who suffer and/or die because their human was misinformed...sad.

I serve the public in my job, absolutely hate it, and dont think i get paid enough. With that said i give 100% everyday and know everything there is to know about my job. Ive also trained multiple people to do the same job. So that shows that my boss must be confident in my understanding.

My job literally IS to serve the public. I'm a 911 dispatcher, all I do is deal with the public. And I can tell you right now I do not get paid enough for it. I have spent time off the clock researching things about my job, because it' still my job. People die if I don't do it well.

Well guess what, pets die when you give new owners incorrect info (which is literally pet store employees jobs), and people get injured if you don't tell them how to use the tool correctly (which is literally Lowe's employees jobs).
