Anybody had a female eat a slug?
I have a female that laid one slug last night. I found it around 630 pm last night. I left it in there expecting to see more eggs or slugs this morning. When I checked this morning there was one slug still but it looks nothing like the one that was in there last night. The one last night was oblong shaped like a really small egg and was kinda white with some yellow on it. The one this morning was pure yellow and almost completely round where did the other slug go? or could the same one have rounded out and turned all yellow over night? I searched the whole tub no other slugs or eggs are in the tub.

My guess would be it just turned more yellow...

That is most likely what happened but it drastically changed shape too, which is also possible I guess. So I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this or if she did possibly eat the first slug then lay another?

Maybe she stepped on it an squished it or the egg became dehydrated.

    Could it possibly a urate?
They are white with yellow specks sometimes afterall.

If she slid over it, it may have changed shape, I suppose. I'd start to worry if more don't appear in a day or so, though. Try misting her, perhaps a rise in humidity will get her going.

It was definitely a slug not a urate. I should have taken pics it would have helped.

I am a little worried, I would expect even if she's going to slug out it will be more than one and its weird that it changed shape and color overnight. She weighs around 1900g and is 4 years old this is her first year breeding. She has been a slow eater the entire time I have had her. I got her as a baby around 100g in 08. I tried misting her, I guess I'll wait and see what happens I have been trying not to bother her too much. Has anybody had a female lay a slug and then wait days to lay the rest?

I have had a few females lay a few eggs, and then the rest the next day. Also had a few lay a clutch, and then turn up with a couple more eggs a day or two later.

Any more than that, and I'd be worried, too.

Well she laid 5 more slugs today. She feels empty so I'm not worried any more. I washed her and her tub today then replaced all the aspen so Hopefully she will go right back on feed. Maybe she will be a better feeder now that she has had a clutch. One good thing is she didn't loose much weight so with a little luck she will get back up to weight quickly and lay a good clutch next year. Thanks for the advice.
