new camera and light tent - DUW! Collection pics
Hi all, still learning on this new camera - between figuring it out and getting these guys to sit still for a minute it's quite an ordeal! but it's worth it in the end. This is only about half of the collection, right now six of them are at some point in a shed cycle so I'll have to get them next time. Let me know what you think of the pics! I know I am having some exposure and focus issues but this time around I was really trying to get their natural colors and I think it went pretty well!!
Here they are, first up is Lemmy our Lesser

next is Charlie our Enchi, the first pic is overexposed but the second shows the right colors. . . at least a little bit anyway

this is Pandora, our Mojave (she's a little piggy!)

this is our Bee, Bibi - the only one who will sit still for pics, for a little while anyway, she's in my profile pic when she was little, here she is a bit bigger

    I like this one. . .

next up is Zack, our Firefly - he's being a little booger and not eating, he's kinda little to have stopped (300gm) but he hasn't lost a gram yet so not time to worry yet. . . we love this guy. . .

I really like this one. .

Finally our newest guy, Peanut - he's a Disco and he's eating like a champ, I didn't have a chance to post a "new addition" thread so here he is now!

Oh, I almost forgot. Our Pastel Athena who is getting HUGE wouldn't sit still but I love her color (still looking good at 900gm!) so here is part of her cruising away from the camera. . .

I hope you like the pics, I'll get to the rest of them when they're freshly shed!!
Let us know what you think, and thanks for looking!!!
First time with a light tent, if anyone has any tips I'd love to hear 'em!

GORGEOUS!! And yes, snakes are one of the hardest living things to photograph. I love sitting there and trying to veeeerrrry gently get them into a semi coil by cupping your hands around them without giving them a heart attack. Rarely works, but you got some great ones!!

Upside down bowl + snake + assistant...works wonders!

Have your assistant remove the bowl after the snake has "settled in" to the bowl hide. Snap away, but be quick! They won't stay bowl-shaped for long.

Also when photographing snakes I like to use posterboard as a background, because it doesn't wrinkle!

Also, that is one of the craziest mojaves I've ever seen!

Excellent! this is what I needed to know, I'm definitely going to do that next time, and yes, the wrinkles were driving me nuts so thank you for that solution!
Isn't Pandora nutty looking? I saw her siblings and some of them had crazy white splotches on their backs, so we're curious to see if she has something hidden that she could pass along. . . We're going to pair her with our Enchi for our first season.
