    Standard bulb for heat
I was wondering if you could use standard bulbs to heat your terrarium? I can get the temps I need with a standard 100 watt bulb and a uth. Is there any reason you can't use a standard bulb rather than the more expensive heat lamps from pet stores?

I rarely hear people using bulbs for hognose , under tank heating is just easier and more efficient .Easier to control temps and prevent overheating that a bulb can do.

yes, you can use a standard bulb, there is no actual difference in the bulbs for household use and the ones marketed for reptile keepers other than packaging.
