Sexing?
So I am new to this but can anyone explain popping and probing and how to differentiate between the gender of a BP with both techniques?

The best thing to do to learn how to pop is to see someone do it in person, but watching online videos will also help. The point of popping is to see if there are hemipenes (male) this is done by applying pressure and rolling up (from the tip of the tail to the vent) if it is a male you will see the hemipenes pop out, if it is a female nothing will pop out. Popping takes practice to get right, and can harm the snake if done incorrectly.
Probing requires sterile instruments (you can buy a set from reptile basics) you insert the probe into the vent to see how far it will go in. Be very gentil as pushing to far/hard can hurt the snake. A female will only let the probe in a very short distance, and a male will go in a much larger amount. Again watching a video online or seeing someone who knows what they are doing is very important.
I just gave an extremely basic overview of both methods, I would advise that you do more research before you attempt either method as they can both end in harm to the snake when done improperly.

Thanks that's the info I was looking for I have started looking at some vids but im afraid to attempt anything myself. I dont know of anybody in the area that can do it. good reptile stores and breeders are scarce up here in washington. I will keep on keepin on though as I hope to be breeding my pastels next year and will have to know how to properly sex the hatchlings.:gj:

I believe Simple Man lives in Washington. PM him to see if he lives near you. He's a respected member here. I'm sure he'll be happy to help you out.

Yeah once I got started watching them I have been just moving through them. I see one I have a question about and I have to watch even though my eyes are starting to burn!

Justin is definatly a great guy, not only are his videos super helpful, but his snakes are awesome and his customer service is superb. (I got my 1.1 pastels from him) I also love what he is doing over at JKRgear: http://www.jkrgear.com/
In fact now that I think about it, I came to this site (BP.net) because I saw Justin wearing a BP.net shirt in a few of his videos.
