how do i switch to rats?

My ball eats F\T large mice now with out a problem and usually 2 of them.. Now i tried to get her to switch to rats but she smells it and shy's away. Ive tried to thaw a mouse with a rat to mix the scents but that didnt work at all... She ate the mouse but wouldnt take the rat...... Yes i tried the rat first for a few times, then the mouse and BAM no problem...

Any advise on what to try next??

How big of a Rat are you giving her, Have you tried a rat pup first?

x2 it could be that the rat is larger. Try giving her one that is the same size as the large mouse. Rat pup will work.

Try mouse bedding with dried thawed rat or try fresh killed rat in mouse bedding then after switch to frozen thawed rat

how big is the rat that your offering? Try a ween f/t rat. Where in IL are you? I'm in IL also.

Or what I did was feed mine a mouse first then a rat pup. That way they arein feed mode and the rat is a little smalled than the mouse you just fed them. Also get some mouse bedding to scent the rat pup after 2-3 feeding mine started taking rats no problem :P

I got small rats, i dont think they are rat pups. They are slightly longer then the mice so maybe that is it.... Ill have to pick up some rat pups and go from there...

Im in Rolling Meadows IL, just about 20min from Chicago
