UPDATE: IL SB3264 Boa and Python Ban
Was on the IL Senate website tonight because I thought I heard that the boa and python ban was being heard Tuesday. Found the bill and saw that an amendment had been made. Here's the relavent section of the amendment:
"(15) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit lawful possession of any of the Boidae family, such as boas, pythons, and anacondas, provided captive maintenance requirements from the Department by administrative rule are met."
Here's the original text:
"Dangerous animal" means any of the following live animals or hybrids of the following live animals, whether bred in the wild or in captivity:
(15) All members of the Boidae family, such as boas, pythons, and anacondas as provided by the Department by administrative rule."
Looks like when the guys from USARK were there last week, they got through to them. For now, boas and pythons aren't "dangerous animals," and thus illegal to own in IL. :)
However...looks like they're still quashing my dreams of owning a hippopotamus. Oh well... ;)

Aww! Hippos are epic. I'm still upset I can't have a pet Polar Bear. :/

So what are the "captive maintenance requirements"?
