Thank you!
I had been operating under the "tank feeding leads to tank aggression" myth my entire life. Reading through this forum calmed my fears and my once "picky" eater ate like a BEAST tonight! He's happily resting with a full belly, and I just wanted to pop in and thank everyone for the wonderful information.

I do it
1. Because my guy is young
2, Because of the Aspen Substraight
3. He seems to be comfortable
Once he gets a little bigger I will let him eat in his Tank

Oh, completely understood! I think there are some very good reasons for feeding in a separate bin; my only reason was basic ignorance. *laughs*
If he had been eating well in the bin, I probably would have kept it up - no point in fixing what isn't broken. He spent most of his time in the bin, however, looking to get out of it. I've never seen him eat as comfortably, and easily, as he did tonight.
EDIT - Accidental "angry face". *laughs*

Re: Thank you!
What ever it takes to get them to eat good. :)

One thing I have done when my snakes were small and I was really worried about the substrate thing was to lay a small piece of poster board in the tub and offer the food over that, so there was minimal chance of substrate ingestion.

Generally if the meal is appropriately sized, there won't be any room for substrate to get into the snake's mouth. You'll notice that bits of substrate that are stuck to the mouse/rat will be "pushed" off (for lack of a better word) by the tight fit against the snake's mouth.
