    need help with bowl wrapping
    i got a 1100 gram normal girl about a month or so ago and ive abserved her intensly bowl wrapping being she doesent have alot of weight on her i havnt put her with any of my boys awaiting to breed her next year but to look in her tub and see her wrapping her bowl and lumping alittle does this mean she is gravid and is it safe for her to have eggs if she is gravid she ate once a small rat when i got her now she refuses to eat even asf rats please help me with this thanks oh and she has lost some weight maby 50 grams or so

    But it takes sperm to fertilize the females eggs so where would she have gotten the sperm from?

    well the guy i got her from said he had some males but didnt say if he put her with them or not i palpated her and it feels like 7 little pearl like objects like i said i dont know if he did put her in with some of his males

    I believe they will produce follicles every year whether they have been paired off or not. So if she is wrapping does not necessarily mean she will lay eggs she may just be going through the process and will reabsorb the eggs later.

    As far as her weight, I would really like to see a study where someone actually tags 50-100 1000g females in the wild with a GPS tracker then goes and studies them throughout breeding season to see how many are gravid, how many pass away from egg binding, etc.

    In captivity we control what occurs and when, who controls it in the wild??

    Just a thought don't mean to hi-jack the thread.
