anothere eating question

So this is the third week of switching my 180 g BP to rats and still no take NT even a reaction to them still he will crawl over them taste them literally but no take the sizes have all been pups then Hopper size this last week thought maybe a little smaller would do the trick nope so should I keep trying or just leave him on mice or maybe another method that has worked for y'all on goodeaters that just wont show interest in rats he hasn't lost width or weight looks and acts healthy I Don wan to stress him bad and haven't handled him since he didn't eat and no different feeding method just they prey and this is only the third week so he could take on sun night his feeding night

I would stick to mice as some BP will only take mice until he is a lil bit bigger. Fang my sons BPis now 208 grms finaly got him weigh in right but he has ate rat pups before this weight. You may also want to try a rat pup that is not quit a rat pinkie or fuzzy but in between to get him started. Are the rat pups live or do you feed F/T ?

Have some patience and stick with the rats for a little while longer. You won't harm you snake if it doesn't eat for a while. Your post sounds like you're feeding live and not F/T. If that's the case, you can try a rat with a little more movement, like a small crawler. Sometimes the extra movement will do the trick. There are also a number of other things you can try like feeding a small mouse and immediately follow that up with a rat hopper or pup. Sometimes that will get them to switch. If he just won't make the switch right now, you can go back to mice and try again when he gets larger.

Yes, some BPs remain mouse eaters for their entire lives, but that it the exception, not the rule, and many times it's more due to the perceptions of the owner than the reality of the snake.

Try leaving it in with the snake overnight. It worked for me on accident. I had a female hatchling about 90 grams that simply refused to eat rats. I tried scenting them with mice and it never worked. One day I took her out and put her in a 6 qt tub with a rat fuzzy. I completely forgot I had her in there until the next morning. I checked and the rat was gone :). The next time I put her in a 6 qt again with the rat and then simply placed the 6 qt in her tub in my rack (The rack tubs are larger). Same results. Be patient

Try leaving a pre-killed overnight, that did they trick with mine when it stopped eating for a while.
BTW. Just in case you don't know this, never leave live rats with your snake for long as it is likely they will get bitten or scratched.
