Kind of freaking out - sudden swelling on jaw
    Hi all !
So I haven't been on the site in a while, busy season at work, all is finally calming down and I may have time to browse the site more often. Wish I was online just to read what everyone else is up to but I actually have a question.

I noticed this morning that one of my BPs had tipped his waterbowl and soaked his newspaper so I opened his tub to clean it and his mouth looked a little bit swollen. I started calling around vets to find a local that will see reptiles. I have not yet made an appointment.

Tonight is feeding night for all and I opened the tub of the BP in question to find a very swollen bottom lip. I didn't continue with trying to feed him since I'm not sure what's wrong but am sort of flipping out due to how much of a difference in swelling there is from this am to now.

    Daybreaker
I just (and still am) going through a very similar things with one of my girls.

Her whole upper side of her mouth got very swollen from what we and the vet I went to believe to be a broken/dislodged tooth. He gave us a Betadine solution swab to do to the affected area 3 times a day with a warm compress to the area, and when it got a little worse we did 3 shots worth of Baytril over a weeks time. So far her swelling is going down a lot with just keeping up with the swabs.

Here's some pics of her mouth when it was more severe than now:

Perhaps his rubbing from knocking the bowl over irritated/broken a tooth on his lower jaw and that's why it's so swollen now? That was our guess with my girl: that she just rubbed so hard or rubbed her mouth in such a way that just made the whole area irritated. Either way, a vet visit is in order asap IMO.

Can you get pics of his inner mouth at all?

I'd def assume that the issue is some sort of injury since the swelling appeared so quickly, but luckily I've never had any health issues so far so I'm not experienced when it really comes down to it. I could try to get a pic of the inside. I considered that but was uncertain bc I didn't want to further irritate whatever is going on. That and it's feeding day so I didn't want to be struck at. Should I quarantine him? There are no other systems other than the swelling that make me think RI or anything...

I probably would just to be safe, since you just never know. My girl was still in QT when she got swollen but she would have been moved if she was with the established guys.

Could be a problem with one of her teeth or maybe an abcess. Maybe its just swollen bc if he was knocking everything around he could have bumped it on something. I would get her checked out to be safe.
