    ALERT: Chula vista area pet sale ban
    Hearing is tomorrow

    "The proposed ordinance amends much of Title 6 of the city’s Code pertaining to animals. Through this proposal, the council has added a new section, 6.08.108, prohibiting the retail sale of dogs and cats. It states that “pet shops are prohibited from selling dogs or cats in the City of Chula Vista”. A “pet shop” is defined as “an establishment involved in selling or exchanging (but excluding boarding breeding or raising) any birds, dogs, cats or other animals, all of which for the purpose of Title 6 are called pets”.

    Wild Animal Ban

    This proposal bans the sale, possession for sale, importation or breeding of a wild animal, and declares that “no person may possess or maintain the following:”

    venomous reptiles;
    birds attaining an adult weight of over 15 pounds;
    rodents attaining an adult weight of over 10 pounds;
    any crocodilian (Order Crocodilia);
    all boa and python species (Family Boidae) attaining an adult weight of over 15 pounds or an adult overall length of over 3 ½ feet; and
    all monitor lizard species"

    I was going to post about this too. LOCAL KEEPERS! Add your voice! This would ban even ball pythons.
