With the new forum it is now possible for users to upload their own avatars. But they can't be too big or it will not allow them. I haven't figured out how to upload them yet, so I loaded my avatar to the net and gave it the link to the image. That is the best way to put up an avatar. If you have any questions on the avatars feel free to ask.
    Thank you.

Make sure you have your avatar saved on a host that allows linking. If you need a host, let me know, I can set you up with a photo gallery. Then, go into your user account, click on "Edit User Profile" and scroll down to the Avatar Control Panel. Put in the URL to your picture. Make sure you click Submit, and it should work

When you upload something you intend to use as an avatar be sure it is sized correctly for this you can use anything from microsoft paint, to photoshop or you can use this program called XnView that is located here - http://perso.wanadoo.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enxnview.html be sure your avatar is within the required max of 120 pixles wide and 180 high. To set up your avatar follow the following directions -

    1. set up a gallery here (or at a site that allows remote linking like photobucket.com) to set up a gallery here check out this link! http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2650.html

    2. click on my account (after you have logged in)

    3. go to account profile

    4. do what you like with your signature and other options- at the bottom there is a place to get an avatar to do this you will need to open up your gallery as a normal user would. open the picture you wish to use as your avatar. Right click and go to properties (over the picture you wish to use as an avatar) highlight the address (location) hold ctrl and hit c (this is a short cut that means copy) go back to the box where you want to link to your avatar (in my account > edit profile) and hit ctrl and v (this is a shortcut for paste) you should see your pic address (location) pasted in the avatar link box go ahead and submit and you should see it right there! Happy posting!

EDIT: If you can make an avatar you can post a picture in the forums! See this link to learn how! http://www.ball-pythons.net/PNphpBB2...ic-t-2515.html

Can I use a picture from my own alubm as an avatar? It's the right format, I believe the picture is small enough, and the file size is definately small enough. Do I just use the url from the gallery page, or is there another way to do it?

The file is 100x100 in xnview. I'm not getting any sort of error message with I hit the submit button or anything, but the icon isn't showing up.

Schlyne ... what you need to do is:

    1. Find the pic in your gallery you wish to use.
    2. Right click on the picture and copy the entire url of the pic's location.
    3. Go to your profile and paste that link into the Avatar URL box.

If you have anyother questions, feel free to shoot me a pm and we'll get ya worked out :D
