Amount of Flex watt per tub?
In a Rack system, whats is the ratio of flex watt to the size of the tub that should be layed? For instance, if a tub is 35in long, how long should the flex watt be?

it depends on the rack. Are you doing back heat or belly heat? Theres no set x inches of flex watt per ft of tub. If your doing belly heat most people will run a strip as wide as the tun is in the back 1/4 of the tub

All my racks from hatchlings to adults have a piece 3 inches of flexwatt running across them.

Re: Amount of Flex watt per tub?
Thanks guys, i'm doing belly heat. The tub is about 35 inches long. So do you think about 8 3/4 is good, or 9 inches long?

Well I have only found Flexwatt in 3, 4, 11 and 17 inches. And I've read a lot of people recommend about 1/3rd of the tubs length. Thats what we do anyway and it seems to work out well. Gives a nice hot spot, then a good transition to the cool side. So if you're thinking on the 8-9 inch side, you should probably just go with the 11inch. Unless you can find flexwatt in a different size, then you need to let me know where you get that hehe :gj: Good luck

I assume you're using 11 or 17 inch tape since you're asking how long to make it? 9 inches should be fine, but you'll want to cut more to account for the clips and overhang of the tub. It will probably end up being like 11 inches. Just put the tape down where it's going to sit, then put the tub down where it will sit. Make sure it is sitting on 1/3-1/4 of the tape and then cut it.
