what is the best pastel line ??
I hear constantly that a pastel has browned out..

I am trying to bring a pastel line into my collection that holds its yellows and doesn't fade later in life. looking for clean, high contrast

which line holds its colors best into adulthood?

    thanks Rob_D

You can find good and bad examples in any of the bloodlines. Hand picking in person is probably your best bet.

Carl Gilmore has a pretty nice line of Pastels.

Here is a picture of a Super girl I got from him a couple of years ago:

What "line" they are doesn't matter, you have to find a pastel that you like

I have seen some great examples and some horrible examples. would it be best to wait till the pastel is an adult and then buy it, or should i hope that the offspring of a killer pastel female will hold its colors well into adulthood

just checked out marks site it looks like he is selling NERD lemon pastel line

may is the las vegas reptile show so maybe I can find a killer female there

    thanks for all the feedback

If you like the way a hatchling looks (doesn't have a lot of orange and brown) and you can see the parents then you can feel pretty confident. getting an adult will guarantee what it will look like but will cost more, and at least personally I prefer to raise mine up.

From what I've seen, most Bells and Blondes seem to stay pretty bright. But honestly, its not the line you should look into. I've seen beautiful and ugly snakes come out of the same line. Just search around for the best looking pastel to your taste.

Clean bright yellow hatchlings hold their color best into adulthood. Hatchlings with any orange coloration will brown out more.

Citrus Pastels that Rick Schlosser works with seem really nice as well.

And, I am pretty sure Mark Petros does not own an ugly animal.
