Why, is the baby going to eat them? As long as you wash your hands between handling the snakes and your daughter, she is not at risk from a pair of BPs. However, if you're intent on selling them, you should check out prices on Kingsnake.com and Faunaclassifieds.com. You may have difficulty selling them as hets without paperwork from the original breeder, unless you have a reputation built that can back them (not saying you don't, I just don't know you).

Another thing to worry about is the stress and potential for the female to not have a good lay outcome. Better for the girls to have a stable environment in my opinion. Where are you located? Maybe someone closer to you will help. Baby are wonderful, and do not have to change your life with dedication and time but they can make you re-evaluate choices made. Snakes and breeding are like any other hobby. Some people get in and out quickly, and some are in it for the long haul, and some come back to it later in life. Good luck with whatever choices you make:)

I really do not want to get rid of them at this point. I am just sooo OCD about germs and never have been like this. I have frozen rats in my freezer on the bottom shelf do you think the germs will float in the air and get on her frozen breast milk? I may try to move the rats in the basement with the snakes and just get a small freezer down there so they wont be anywhere near each other.

You'll have to search for the article but there was a study published not too long ago that showed children raised in OCD, animal-less households were much more likely to develop allergies and asthma than children raised in a household with furry pets. Being around a reasonable number of germs and foreign molecular bodies is healthy for growing immune systems... without the exposure, they have no way to adapt (for acquired immunity, not innate).

:number1: This!
My twins were raised from day one around dogs, cats, and snakes. To be honest, I was too busy taking care of them to worry about disinfecting every binky that hit the floor. I probably don't want to know everything they came in contact with while they were infants and toddlers. They turned out just fine and narry an alergy among them. I wouldn't sweat it. I worry more about the germs on a McDonalds hamburger than I do about the ones on the rats I feed.

Sounds like you figured it out on your own...:gj:.
For now, keeping rats on the bottom shelf is the way to go, and with proper precaution and handling, germ/bacterial transference should not be an issue.
